Next Generation Fellowship

Description:

In partnership with the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice (CJCJ), the Next Generation Fellowship (NGF) is a training program for formerly incarcerated, system-impacted leaders and other colleagues who want to grow their leadership. Through this fellowship, individuals gain skills in policy advocacy and become policy leaders for the state of California. The NGF is part of the movement to end mass incarceration with an emphasis on promoting cultural healing, public safety, and healthy communities.

During the fellowship and beyond, participants are provided hands-on opportunities at the California State Capitol to influence state and local government through policy advocacy. In addition to developing advocacy skills, Fellows work together with a cohort of their peers to explore and engage in their own cultural healing to ultimately advance racial justice.
